I’m really sad October is over. October is my favourite month of the year mostly because of birthdays, Halloween and the start of autumn but November is generally a bit meh. After Bonfire night, it’s the start of cold winters, having to get up fifteen minutes earlier to defrost my car, going and coming back from work in the dark. It’s just a bit cold and dark all round!
Saying all of this, November is an exciting month with lots of things happening. First off, I’m going to the National Pet Show at Birmingham’s NEC. It’s gonna be an ace day where I’m going to leave with an empty bank account but one happy puppy. I’m also meeting Ren for pizza too which I’m excited for. We’ve been talking none stop for months so it’s gonna be ace to meet her. I just wish Sarah was coming down too!
Before I get rushed away with November – here’s what I’ve been loving in October:
My new favourite skincare products. I did a full review on them here but they do deserve a mention in favourites. I’ve been using their clay mask and face scrub for the past few weeks and it’s really improved my skin. Pamper nights are becoming my favourite night of the week and it’s all thanks to Skin Sincere. I’m definitely putting an order in for some more of their products!
I spent a weekend visiting my best friend, Northerner Down South, in London. We’ve been best friends since starting University over six years ago. With real life and hundred of miles getting in the way it can be really hard to see each other, so, we cherish the weekends we do have together. We watched Wicked which was phenominal and one of the best shows I’ve seen in the theatre, went to the Cake & Bake Show in London’s EXcel and ate loads of cheese. It was such a refreshing weekend and lots of fun was had!
This product has been a total game changer for me. It was in my West Midlands Blogger Meet goody bag and I was super excited to try it out. I’d heard that coconut oil is amazing for thick, frizzy hair and I can honestly say, it is. All I do is pop this in my scalp and ends for 30 minutes before I wash my hair, wash my hair as normal with shampoo and conditioner and let it dry naturally. The results are amazing – my hair is less frizzy, it’s embracing it’s natural curls and I can actually go to work without having to straighten it to death. I might do a post on the coconut oil on it’s own – let me know if you want to see it!
I hit the grand old age of 25 a few days ago and despite feelings of dread, I had a really nice day. It was a quiet affair of shopping for my new Radley bag, afternoon tea and a night at the pub but it was lovely. All day I felt so much love and thanks for all my lovely family and friends for their generosity and birthday wishes. Honestly, it made my heart melt.
I love Halloween. Secret – I love it more than Christmas! I’ve always associated Halloween with amazing dressing up and incorporating it with my birthday somehow. Since living in our own place, The Geek & I have taken to decorating the house. This year our plans are for two of our friends to come over and basically get drunk and watched scary films all night whilst catching up. As well as that, this year, I went on the hunt for some Halloween cookie cutters and I picked some up in Hobbycraft for a couple of quid. With family and friends living far away, I baked some shortbread and decorated them and sent them to my nephew and friends daughter!
Roll on November!
