What are three of the best things in the world?
Star Wars, Christmas and cake.
What happens when you combine all three? I’ll tell you. One happy Blogger & The Geek household.
Baker Days contacted me to see if I wanted to review one of their letterbox cakes from their Christmas range and put any message I wanted on it. With both the Geek & I being huge cake lovers, I jumped at the chance and had a nosey to see what they do. When I saw this one I instantly knew we needed it in our lives. I mean, we’ve got midnight viewing tickets for The Force Awakens and added a festive Star Wars quote! Once picked, I sent off my order to the lovely people at Baker Days and eagerly awaited my parcel of happiness.
A few days later it arrived with my annual student loan statement telling me I was in over twenty grand worth of debt. Pushing the letter aside, I eagerly opened my perfectly letterbox shaped box to dig into my cake. The cake arrived in a gorgeous reusable tin which would look fabulous if the cake was to arrive as a surprise. The tin also provides the cake with extra protection. I was worried to see if the cake would have survived the journey as my porch has tiled flooring but the cake arrived safely in one piece!
As well as receiving the cake and the tin, Baker Days threw in some balloons and everything else needed for a mini celebration. Rufus loved the balloons so they went down a treat with him. I was concerned about getting the cake out of the tin but Baker Days have thought of that – they’ve put in a handy tab which lifts the cake out without damaging it or without you getting frustrated! They’ve honestly thought of everything.
We ordered a vanilla cake but they do offer chocolate and fruit fillings. They even do gluten or dairy free cakes too! Considering the cake was tightly sealed and had survived Royal Mail, it tasted so fresh. The sponge was light and fluffy whilst the icing was perfect for the size of the cake. The cake, keeping in mind it’s meant to fit your letter box, is generous and kept us both going for a few days.
I think they are a fabulous gift idea and beat the small cakes you can buy in card shops. They are priced at £14.99 and saves you the hassle of hoping that someone is in when postie comes. There’s such a variety of cakes available and covering all different seasons and holidays. If you’re struggling to buy for someone at Christmas, why don’t you give them a go!
Baker Days have also offered the chance for you guys to win your own Letterbox cake. You can pick any Christmas design and any flavour. You can even put your own message on the cake and surprise your family at Christmas! All you need to is enter into the Rafflecopter below. The winner will be announced via Twitter on Monday 14th December so you get it in time for Christmas! Best of luck to you all!
