Hands up if you’re a pet owner who forgets to worm and flea your pet. Then you get a surge of panic and end up at doing it at 11pm at night. And that’s if you’ve got some worming tablets or flea treatment in.
Yup. I’ve been that dog owner.
Protect My Pet are the answer to my forgetful prayers. Starting from £10.00 per month they can send you a box every month with branded flea protection and worming tablets with some added goodies for your furry friend. Protect My Pet got in touch with me and asked if I wanted to review one of their boxes. I jumped at the chance as Rufus was due to be wormed and needed to be flea’d. They sent me a box tailored to Rufus’ breed requirements which would have come to £12.99 as an individual box or £10.99 as part of their ongoing subscription service.
Our box contained Rufus’ flea and worming treatments, a bag of Pooch & Mutt treats and a roll of Beco Poo bags. It was wrapped up in the cutest paw print tissue paper as well. I loved that there was a bag of treats for Rufus too. Also, a bonus on the poo bags as all dog owners know, you literally can never have enough poo bags!
Firstly, hats off to them for having a the box that fits through your letter box. I love subscription boxes but nothing annoys me more than having to go to the post office depot and pick them up. Especially when my local depot only opens between 7:00am and 2:30pm. So, you can imagine I was thrilled when I came back one Saturday morning, the box was sat in my porch ready and waiting for Rufus and I to have a look!
One thing I was potentially worried about was the brand of fleaing and worming tablets. Protecting your pet against ticks and fleas is so important, especially with so many of them about. On the Protect My Pet website they list all of the products that they use and I was happy to know that they use high quality veterinary branded products that are well known in every pet household. It also crossed my mind who would be dispensing the prescribing the treatment; Protect My Pet work in the veterinary world and a vet actually tailors a plan specifically for your cat or dog. When you first sign up to the service, you need to answer a few questions about your pet and they’ll tailor the plan from there. Everything we received was made the measure to Rufus’ weight, age and breed. They arrived as if Rufus had been to visit the vet with instructions and specifically had his name on them, which you don’t get with over the counter flea or worming products. I was even happier that the worming tablet provided was one where I didn’t have to starve Rufus for half the day. It was a small bone sized tablet that he demolished. No need to disguise it in cheese, it went straight down the hatch!
It’s a service that we’re 100% signing up for. There isn’t anything worse knowing your pet has fleas and that you could have prevented it. Although vets can do plans which include worming and fleaing treatments, I’ve personally found they are only cost effective in the first year of puppy and kittens life. My local vets service includes microchipping and first vaccinations – not something that we need now! Protect My Pet is an affordable way to spread the cost of offering the best protection for your ball of fluff. They’ve even got an offer for 20% off on your first box. All you need to do is enter the code INTRO20 at the check out, so, there’s even more of an incentive to sign up!
