This Christmas will be Rufus’ 2nd Christmas with us and his first Christmas as an adult dog. Last Christmas, he loved it. We had a morning walk, a Christmas dinner and spend the night curled up whilst the family got drunk. Perfect. We’re very lucky with Rufus in a sense that he takes everything as it comes and isn’t easily overwhelmed. But, Christmas can be a scary time for pooches and it’s important to keep your dog safe. Not just from people but also the food too.
I’m a feeder. My Mum is a feeder. The Geek’s Mum is a feeder. We all feed the dogs and they do have their own Christmas dinner. But, it is important to feed them the right stuff and not to overindulge in them. Keep chocolates off the tree and keep a check on the RSPCA’s website on what foods to keep away from your dog. I’ve teamed up with the RSPCA this Christmas to make some delicious treats for our woofers so they can stay safe but also indulge with us over Christmas
Super Easy 5 Ingredient Banana & Peanut Butter Dog Treats
You will need:
340g of oats
200g of wholemeal flour
1 mashed banana
75g of peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol!)
Pre-heat your oven to gas mark 4. Line a baking tray with baking paper ready for your biscuits.
Pop all your ingredients into a mixing bowl making sure you sift the flour. Mix it until it form a firm dough. It only takes a minute or two with an electric mixer on a low speed.
Allow your dog to mix the peanut butter spoon.
Once all the ingredient are combined, roll out your mix. make sure they have some thickness your dog has something to crunch.
Pick a cutter of your choice. I went for my favourite Rufus shaped cutter. Cut out your biscuits and line them up on your baking tray.
Pop them in the oven for 15 minutes. Once cooked, give them time to cool and then feed them to your 4 legged friend!
Not only are the super easy to make your dog will love them. Just make sure that you are using the correct peanut butter and that it does not contain xylitol.
