I’m massively late to the New Years resolutions and things I want to achieve party. But, I’m gonna post it anyway. For anything, it’s for myself to look back on.
I’m a person who works off goals. Being honest, I think most millennials do and I think it’s from the school system we’re from. But, that’s another story and rant for another day.
I wrote previously how I felt left behind in the blogging world a little bit due to not having the best start in 2017. To get myself back on track, I decided to write down the things I wanted to achieve this year and they are all completely doable. I want 2017 to be the year where I be the best person I can be and stop letting my fears stop me.
So what do I want to achieve? All my goals are different and including travel, my blog and of course my own personal development.
1. REBRAND BLOGGER & THE GEEK
This is something I’m hoping to kick off in the next few months. I’m going to take the plunge to self hosted WordPress, get a new layout and just give it a fresh start. I love Squarespace but I just feel I don’t know enough about it to use it to it’s full potential. And I don’t know if it exactly works with blogs. Either way, I’m researching to find the best layout for me to move over to WordPress.
2. RAISE MONEY FOR CHARITY
I signed Rufus and I up for the #muddydogchallenge for Battersea Dogs Home in May. We’ll be running an obstacle course together which is really going to go one way or the other. But, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while. I’m not a runner so this is the next best thing for me. And what is a better feeling than doing it with your best friend? If you want to donate, our Just Giving page is here.
3. GROW RUFUS ROAMS
Did you know Rufus has his own instagram page? I love it more than my personal one, and I love the dog blog friends we’ve made. Compared to most dog bloggers, we’re really, really pants but I’m trying my hardest to stop comparing myself to them and instead develop my own skills. Our photography is slowly improving and he’s learning more to pose for the camera some more. You can follow his Instagram here.
4. TAKE A STAYCATION
At the moment everything in our household is save save save for our wedding in 2018 but I’m going to try and get a little staycation in 2017. Ideally, I’d love for us to go away with Rufus to a little cottage with our friends somewhere. But, I think this may be a little far off the list. Weddings are expensive things and I need to get on planning!
5. LEARN TO USE MY CAMERA ON MANUAL
For my birthday I invested in the Sony A5000 and it’s allowed me to develop my photography skills. But, I really want to keep pushing them further. I see my camera as an investment piece, so it seems the perfect place where to start. I’ve been watching a number of different Youtube videos to give me the basics on the manual setting. Once my arms fully healed, I can’t wait to get outside and grab some great shots!
6. GET A NEW JOB I’M HAPPY IN
This is the number 1 goal I want to achieve in 2017. I’ve been working in my current job for the past 3 years, and it’s fine. But, it’s not what I set out to do at University. I got caught up in wanting to settle my domestic life: move the Geek down the Midlands, get a house and Rufus. Now I have a happy domestic life I want to push for the thing I trained to do. Honestly, I don’t think I would have come to this realisation as quickly without my blog. It’s pushed me in knowing that I want to do something that’s more creative. It’s something I am desperate to achieve in 2017 and push forward with. Watch this space!
These are the main goals I want to achieve and if I can achieve them, I’d be a pretty happy gal. Here’s hoping 2017 will be a good year in our household!
