Last weekend we headed off Crufts in Birmingham at the NEC. Crufts is the worlds biggest dog show where over twenty thousand dogs compete in different events each year. This year we were official Cruft bloggers again! We had a lovely time and even met a few of our Instagram friends.
One of the best things about Crufts is the shopping. Though being honest, I didn’t think it was as good as previous years, so we were pretty reserved this year. There were a few stalls I was desperate to check out and buy ALL of the things. But, I came back with change and it was lovely chatting to new brands about their products. I just wish I could have spent another day at Crufts making more connections and not cramming it all in a few hours. Maybe next year! And maybe next year, Rufus will be coming with me.
So, what did I end up buying this year?
Our first stop was to ChuckIt! I have seen a lot of our Twitter dog blog friends rave about how good ChuckIt toys are so it was one of the stalls on our list to visit. Rufus adores tennis balls and he’s one of those dogs who quite simply thinks ball is life. Every day when we go on the field, we play fetch none stop for at least 20 minutes, but, this also means we get through balls like anything. His favourite balls are the ones with the squeakers in; not only are they great fun to squeak but they are fantastic for getting your dog’s attention. This is why the Chuckit Ultra Squeaker Ball was a great first buy! I also bought one of the ChuckIt Sport launchers for our long games of fetch. Since breaking my arm last year, the launchers make it a lot easier to be able to throw the balls and not injure it any further. ChuckIt kindly gave us some tennis balls as part of a deal too!
Our second stop of the day was to my favourite dapper dog brand: Mabel & Mu. Mabel & Mu stock bow ties, leads, collars and bandanas for both dogs and cats. Rufus has a few Mabel & Mu goodies; they are such high quality and update their ranges regularly. Their products wash easily, they do a range of sizes from the smallest of pooches to the biggest. We picked up a bowtie in their Coastal Walks range, which Rufus already has the bandana for. It’s a gorgeous light blue in a tartan print that I think would suit any dog. We also got a bandana in one of their new ranges in a lovely denim print. Gorgeous for every day wear!
Our biggest splurge was at Tuff Mutts: a premium, luxury dog bed company based in Manchester. Rufus was in desperate need for a new bed for his crate. After reading a lot of reviews and seeing how gorgeous their beds were, I knew this was the place to go. After a chat with their friendly team, we decided to go for one of their Memory Foam Luxury Travel Dog Mats. It’s the perfect size to fit in his crate and will definitely be a lot comfier for him. You can pick our of a choice of fabrics too, we went for the Bamburgh Azure, which is a lovely dark grey with bright blue and white lines. It’ll hide those muddy paws in his box, and when we have it outside the crate it’ll look gorgeous in our home. We also had a little splurge on one of their Doggy Duvets and it has fast become my favourite thing in the world. Rufus and I happily spend our evenings cuddled up under a blanket and we haven’t left this one since I bought it home. We went for the large one in the same Bamburgh Azure print. One side is covered in the print and the other side in a sheepskin material. We both love it, it’s so big and perfect for cuddling up in. I won’t lie; I bought it more for me than Rufus!
We took a trip the Nerf Dog stand and The Geek very quickly bought the Nerf Tennis Ball Blaster. We’ve got a pretty large collection of Nerf guns which we’ve accumulated over the past few years. When he saw this, he was paying for it before I could say anything. It’s a ball launcher that claims to shoot balls over 50 metres (we’re still yet to put it to the test!). You can pick up the balls using the blaster too, which is ace is your dog is a swimmer or you’ve accidentally launched your ball in a puddle of mud. Nerf were doing an offer with 4 extra tennis balls too, but, it also launches other makes of balls. It’s a lot of fun and it’s great for me post arm injury! Not to mention, it’s gonna be ace for our trip to Kent in August!
It was a reserved haul but I’ve got one happy, spoilt hound. I can’t wait to put all his toys to the test and see how he gets on with them!
