Recently, I was invited to try out the new Italian all you can eat pasta and pizza menu at Osteria in Birmingham. I know, it’s a freaking hard life being me sometimes. I won’t lie; I was pretty stoked when I got the e-mail because Italian food is my all time favourite, and then being told it was all you can eat – I was one happy lady!
Osteria is part of the Rodizio Rico chain at The Cube in Birmingham. Rodizo Rico is a Brazilian all you can eat restaurant and they’ve opened Osteria as their Italian sister restaurant located right next door on the 7th level of The Cube. With two sittings, you can get all you can eat pasta and pizza from under £10. Unlike your usual all you can eat where it’s sat on the sides, the kitchen is on display and it’s made fresh right in front of you.
We were greeted with some bellinis before sitting down ready for the Italian feast to begin. At the kitchen, there was a help yourself element of Italian meats – pastrami, salami and chorizo, breads, olives and cheeses available for us to start on to wet our appetites. Naturally, we indulged. All the bread was soft and went perfectly with the variety of Italian meats.
Next up the pastas and pizzas were served. The waiting staff serve the food at your table and were extremely knowledgeable about all the dishes. As the dishes are fresh from the kitchen, they are hot which is an absolute winner with me. We were served an array of different pastas including a Four Cheese Gnocchi, Mushroom risotto with gorgonzola, pine nuts and asparagus as well as a classic bologna. As well as a variety of vegetarian based pastas, we were also offered Penne ala Vodka served with bacon in a tomato based sauce and a spaghetti and clams dish. All the dishes were extremely tasty – especially the gnocchi being my favourite with it’s strong cheese. You can’t go wrong with a cheesey pasta in my eyes!
Alternating with the pasta dishes were the sourdough pizzas coming in a variety of flavours. Cooked in the stonebaked oven, they were served to us as soon as they were cooked and cut into slices. We dabbled in some classic toppings such as margarita and a standard pepperoni but also tried a brasiliana – chicken, soft cheese, sweetcorn, black olives and peppers.
Starting from £9.90, you can’t go wrong for the variety of dishes available. We only sampled a few but they were all flavour some, fresh and of a really high quality and I’m already looking forward to our next trip!
