Located on the Wergs Road outside Tettenhall Village, The Crown has always been that restaurant and bar where everything is a little bit fancy. The refurbishment works taking place over the past few weeks has seen it take on a modern twist on it’s previous traditional decor. Teamed up with a very modern grey, it gives a fresh but very cosy feel – perfect for an autumnal dinner date.
I’m not a sweet tooth kind of girl so I always struggle with dessert, but I was surprised at the range of choice The Crown has. I went for the Instragram classic, The Chocolate Golden Bomb. A chocolate sphere full of caramel ice cream and chocolate popping candy, which melts with the scalding hot toffee cream sauce that the waitress kindly poured for me. Although sweet, it wasn’t a rich dessert and the chocolate ans toffee worked well together. The Geek decided to mix it up and go for it a cocktail and dessert combination: a rich Belgian chocolate brownie accompanied by a White Russian. They accompanied each other perfectly: the cocktail taking away from the richness of the brownie and also giving a different element to dessert!
