I’ve been waiting for a long, long time to write that sentence and for it to be actually here. 2018 – the year of marriage and also, it means my favourite item is back – my passport. I am eagerly awaiting sending off my passport application to be valid on our wedding day in my new name. I can’t freaking wait.
I spent the latter half of 2017 thinking how many trips can I squeeze into my annual leave. It turns out that I can get a few in and I’m so happy that 2018 will be travel filled.
My girls have organised my hen do to the one place I’ve been desperate to visit for a while – Edinburgh. They have a full weekend planned for me and I’m told I’m going to love it. I’m also excited to explore the city I’ve been longing to visit, with it’s cobbled streets, the castle, the many bars to drink in and the food to taste.
NEW YORK & FLORIDA KEYS
For our honeymoon, we always thought we would go to Africa on safari. We decided to switch it up to the second love of our lives: New York, which is a place that we’ve both been so desperate to visit. With the TV shows I’ve fallen in love with over the years, there are so many iconic buildings and sets I want to visit, not to mention wanting to eat my way around the city. Needing time to escape after a busy trip to New York, we’ve decided to fly down to Miami and drive down to the Keys for a week of pure relaxation, enough alcohol for a small ship and some sunshine.
My best gal pal and I have decided to head to Disneyland Paris next year for our birthdays. We live around 150 miles apart and it can be difficult to see each other with life getting in the way. With wedding planning and having to stick to a budget, it’s been hard to be able to pack up for a weekend to go and see her. So, we decided this was the best way to celebrate is for a few days at Disneyland and spend a day in Paris. Think hanging out with Donald Duck with a Sephora haul at the end of it – pretty perfect if you ask me.
It’s fast approaching my Dad’s birthday in October, which naturally means we’re all heading off to a booze-filled, trashy weekend in Benidorm. I’ve never really had much love for mainland Spain but I’m getting pretty excited for this adventure. I haven’t been away with my folks for nearly a decade so a beer fuelled weekend in the Med is right up my street.
The day after our wedding, the 3 of us (Rufus included!) will be going down the M5 to stay at the Tewkesbury Park Hotel in Gloucestershire for a few days of relaxation, good food and dog walking. The trip was booked through the Pets Pyjamas, which specialises in dog friendly travel and we got a pretty sweet deal. It’s been one of my favourite purchases from our wedding fund and I cannot wait to relax with my two boys.
There may be a few more trips yet to be had as there’s some plans in the making – but hopefully all these will be the most definite ones! If you have any Europeans city breaks – hit a girl up.
