In this post I’m gonna tell you why you should stop scanning Ryanair’s 10% sale and think about camping in your friend’s back garden and drinking cans of Strongbow Dark Fruits cider. Because, I’m recommending a staycation.
Usually, staycations are not my thing. Holidays have always been about raiding duty free, getting on a plane and spending time in a hot country and cannon-balling into a pool after 10 margaritas. But, if we’re being honest I’ve not been on a summer holiday since 2014 where the Geek and I spent 10 days in Turkey. I’ve been on a few city breaks; exploring the world bar by bar a few times since, but, this year we decided to swap our cocktail fuelled holiday and spend longer in Kent with our friends.
The Geek and I have spent the past few days in Broadstairs and it’s been one of the most mental and relaxing breaks I’ve had in a while. Every year since I was 19, we’ve spent a few days on the Kent coast drinking cider, eating copious amounts of food and camping. You would have thought that because I have been doing this since I was 19, I’d be a little bored. I won’t lie; my back can’t handle an airbed and I’m a princess when it comes to camping. But, this year it’s been different.
