I wanted to do something a little bit different today.
The past few days have been a bit strange – I’ve noticed there’s been constant reminders that life is extremely short. Last week I found out that one of the youtubers I watched passed away at the mere age of 26. It was heartbreaking to be honest and I felt my whole day was in a little bit of a daze. I then found out later in the week that to be honest, we don’t really know a lot about each other.
I had last week off work because Rufus was having his plums off. As payday wasn’t due till Friday and I was on house arrest, I spent a lot of my time on Twitter talking to bloggers and really reading people’s tweets. I’ll have a scroll through Twitter at work but I won’t properly read tweets. I’ll just favourite the odd thing and reply to the odd person. Having spent the time on Twitter, I found that I knew very little about the community. I knew about their blog but not about them as a person. I didn’t know what was going on in their lives or their heads.
I wanted to break this mould because if I don’t know a lot about other bloggers – surely they don’t know a lot about me. They don’t know what going on it my world except my passive aggressive tweets about my noisy work colleagues and updates on Rufus’ balls. That’s all the snippet you get into my life. So since I was tagged in The Blogger Tag from Things Sarah Loves, I thought I’d give it a whirl!
1. How did you get into blogging
I’ve been reading blogs for the past couple of years. I was becoming more and more reliant on them for reviews, days out and really getting into the people behind the screens. At work part of my role was social media but I got a new job and had nothing to do it with it anymore. I ideally wanted a job with this sort of thing so I thought I’d keep my skills up by starting a blog but focusing it on things I love. At first, I didn’t really think there was space for me in the blogging world because I’m not big on beauty and fashion is not my thing, but, there is room for me and I love it!
2. What advise would you give to bloggers starting out?
As well as putting effort into your posts and the website make sure you put equally as much effort into your social media. Twitter is the best place to interact and make friends. Also, don’t expect miracles overnight. You need to really keep at it and plugging away. Oh, and finally, blog about something you enjoy. If I started a fashion blog it’d be awful as it’s not something I’m into, but, I’ll write for England about my hound.
3. What would be your dream campaign?
Honestly it would be working with an animal focused charity. I’m such a huge, huge animal lover and I have such a huge place in my heart for them. I’d love to work with a charity and raise more awareness for animals. Or to work with Radley as they are on my favourite brands. That’d be a dream!
4. Do you have a plan for your blog?
At the moment I’m still trying to see what works for my blog. I’m trying to see what’s popular and what I enjoy writing. I’ve got some exciting opportunities coming up which I’m embracing every time my inbox bleeps! So, at the moment I don’t!
