I know it’s meant to be NEW YEAR NEW START etc but I wanted to include my December favourites. It’s a post I enjoy doing because I like being able to review my month. It makes you appreciate what you’ve done in the past month and it doesn’t have to be beauty or fashion related. So, favourites are here to stay on Blogger & The Geek!
ANYWAY. December. I’ve had quite a nice December which is strange as I’m not really a Christmas gal. It’s really been a big piss up of lots of prosescco, celebrating Rufus’ birthday, baking and my London trip to see my best friend for the day. It’s been a whirlwind and I’m looking forward to the rest in January to be honest and welcoming the lighter nights as they gradually come through. I’m hoping 2016 will be a stronger year and I’ll be the best version of myself again.
So, what have I loved this month?
Guy Garvey Live
I was lucky enough to win a pair of tickets to see Guy Garvey, the lead singer of Elbow, sing his solo album at the O2 in Birmingham. Although I hadn’t really listened to the album too much, Guy Garvey was phenomenal as always. He makes the show his own and, although he was fuelled up on whiskey, he was perfect. Any Elbow fans, I recommend giving his album a listen as it’s a beautiful master piece.
Rufus’ 1st Birthday
MY LITTLE DOG TURNED ONE AND I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FEEL THAT HE IS NO LONGER A PUPPY ANYMORE!! I think I’m experiencing what parents go through when their kids turn one. Like, OMG THE YEAR IS GOING BY SO FAST AND THEY ARE SO GROWN UP. After I got over my initial weirdness of the situation, I made him a cake and wrapped up his pressies. We had beef and vegetable stew for tea and he was happy. I honestly can’t explain the bond between us but it’s magical and I love the happiness and light he brings into my life.
I’m not really a huge fan of Christmas and I find the whole thing ridiculously hyped up and I generally feel trapped. Sometimes was different this year: we all decided to hammered on Christmas night. It’s been a crap year in the whole household so my Dad said that all he wanted was a huge, huge piss up and this is what we had. My Mum, Dad, Brother, my Dad’s best friend, Ant, Rufus and I just sat in the dining room and played games, drank a ridiculous amount and sang songs all night. None of us (bar Rufus) had a Christmas day nap and we didn’t switch the TV on once. It was a really lovely and fun night and reminded me that Christmas is all about the people you spend it with.
My friend bought me my first MAC lipstick for Christmas and it’s safe to say I’m a total convert. It’s beautiful. The packaging is gorgeous and I love just finding it in my handbag. It’s not a usual shade I would wear but the more I wear it, the more it grows on me. It’s gorgeous and I’m already eyeing up my next purchase. I have finally become one of those girls and you know what, I’m not even sorry
