I have seemed to take it on myself to find undiscovered places in Wolverhampton. In October last year, it was named one of the UK’s most depressing cities which personally I think can relate to the lack of opportunity and prosperity in the city. The town centre has nothing in it and it lacks independent shops and cafes. So, when I heard that a new coffee shop was opening I couldn’t wait to visit.
Cocoa-Nut is located in the middle of Bilbrook and Claregate in Wolverhampton on Windermere Avenue. It only opened in December 2015 and already has bought something new to the neighbourhood. It offers a range of hot drinks, homemade cakes and hot food so it’s the perfect place to warm up in the winter!
The Geek and I decided to go when we came back from Lincoln as we had no food in the house. We were still in that stage of YAY IT’S STILL CHRISTMAS and thought we’d treat ourselves. Cocoa-Nut was busy but it wasn’t crowded. It had a buzzing atmosphere but we didn’t feel as if we were intruding on anyone’s conversations. We opted to have two lattes and I had a panini whilst The Geek went for a sausage and egg sandwich.
The coffees arrived with a cute little homemade biscuit. Whilst waiting for our food, we could admire the surroundings. Cocoa-Nut has gone with a contrasting wood and metal theme. The wood tables and beautiful wood bar are perfect for Instagram shots, especially with the huge windows letting so much light in!
Our food arrived after a short wait and it was lovely. I went for a tuna melt panini which came with some crisps and a side salad. I hadn’t had a panini in a while so I had high hopes! It was safe to say I wasn’t disappointed. It was exactly what was needed and really hit the spot. It was warm and filled me up.
Cocoa Nut is easily going to become one of my new haunts. Before we paid the bill, I had two of their lemon and poppy seed muffins which my parents said were delicious! I can’t wait to go back again and try some of their pancakes! Well done Cocoa-Nut for bringing some life and individuality back to Wolverhampton!
Cocoa Nut is located at 46 Windermere Avenue, Wolverhampton, WV6 9DF and open Monday – Saturday 9:00am – 16:00.
