Valentines’ Day is fast approaching and it’s yet another date I’m trying to fit into my payday. I don’t know if it is because I’m getting old or feeling the pinch in trying to save for a house I’m just sighing at the thought of having to pay for another hallmark holiday.
But, Valentines doesn’t have to be expensive. Sometimes the best and most thoughtful gifts can be homemade or don’t have to break the bank. This year for Valentines’ Day I thought I would do it all on a budget but still give the Geek some of his favourite things. So, if you’re struggling for some inspiration for the man in your life, why not try these?
Baking his favourite treat
The Geek usually cooks on Valentines Day as I do it the other 364 days. Not wanting to break tradition, I decided to make him a baking treat. He has a real sweet tooth and browsing through my Hummingbird Bakery book I settled on Vanilla Filled Chocolate Cookies. These are so simple to make but taste amazing. I simple put them in a tin and voila; simple, homemade treat!
Feeling the pinch this month? Why not make a jar full of date ideas and pick them each month or on days that you have nothing to do. It can be the simplest of going to the cinema (obv on Meerkat Movies days), having a no technology date night, Netflix and Chill or even going on a random drive somewhere. It doesn’t have to break the bank and it’s something that you can both do together and lasts all year!
Mason jars and bottles are the best things since slice bread, especially for the homemade and thrifty gal! You can create so many homemade and personal gifts with them. I grabbed this mason jar in ASDA for £1 and filled it up with M&Ms. The Geek loves them. All you need to do is wrap some ribbon around it and make a label if you wish! I don’t think they will last 5 minutes though!
What have you guys got planned for Valentines Day? Are you trying any homemade gifts?
