There was only one thing for it after getting my eyes lasered and that was cake. I’d been wanting to check out Cupcake Lane for a while but kept finding I never had the time. The day after eye lasering, we decided to go for a little perk up treat after a horrible day before it.
Cupcake Lane is located just off the Henwood Road in Wolverhampton. If you’re a local, you’ll recognise it instantly as the the old station platform where the Great Western railway track used to run to Wombourne. I used to cycle their as a child with my parents and it was a great way to get some fresh air. Now, it’s been transformed to Cupcake Lane serving cakes, sandwiches, breakfasts and afternoon tea to the public.
We decided to go for lunch and drive there. There’s a large free car park if you don’t fancy walking and it has disabled access. It has a fantastic outside area for sunny weather and dog walkers facing onto the old track. They have lots of water bowls so if you are on the walk to Wombourne, your doggy friend has a place to have a drink whilst you pick up a coffee. The cafe itself is an intimate vintage dream. With only a few tables, it’s decorated with cake stands and teapots on every shelf. With gorgeous floral cushions and table clothes; it is a Pinterest dream.
I opted for a tuna station sandwich, which was served on lovely, fresh crusty white bread. It was served with a salad garnish and some crisps. I love nothing more than really thick bread and this was wonderful. The Geek opted for a tuna and cheese bagel which looked delicious and just as fresh. The food and coffees came really quickly and the Geek’s large coffee was like a boat of coffee!
After lunch, we had to have a cheeky slice of cake. Cupcake Lane shows off all of their cakes on the front of their till so it’s easily tempted! I decided to go for the Red Velvet and The Geek went for an Oreo cake. We got a huge slice of cake for £2.50 each. The red velvet was gorgeous – very light, just the right amount of icing but I still couldn’t finish it! If you aren’t feeling the huge slice of cake; they also serve cupcakes to fit in perfectly with their name.
Not only do Cupcake Lane serve cakes and tea. They also hold different events: hen parties, decorate your own cupcake party and children parties. All you need to do is drop them a call or send them an e-mail!
