Want to know what Rufus’ favourite food is? It’s tuna. He goes mad for it. Whenever I get the can opener he’ll instantly run to my feet and await for some tuna goodness. Nine times out of ten, it’s baked beans or chopped tomatoes but he’ll always try to get some. So, when he received a huge parcel from Fish4Dogs full of goodies it was safe to say he was one happy little hound.
Fish4Dogs products mostly contain salmon who is sourced from Norway. The salmon is farmed in Norway and because of the rules and regulations surrounding fish farming in Norway, our dogs are getting the best fish. There’s no nasties in the fish, which is fantastic when you’re trying to provide your dog with the best. The products are also created in Norway so you’re recieving fresh and good food for your dog. For the whole process, you can read it on their website here
Rufus was a lucky hound who received a whole bunch of goodies from Fish4Dogs. The first one we tried was the Sea Jerky Tiddlers, costing £3.45 for 100g. Sea Jerky is made from fish skins and reminded me of one of the Bertie Bassett sweets. With the crunchy texture and fishy smell they are not only delicious but perfect for looking after your dogs teeth. Chewing is a dogs way of looking after their teeth and Sea Jerky helps get rid of all the plague and tartar around their teeth. Rufus loved these and they were also the perfect size for him for a treat or for stuffing in a kong and keeping him busy!
As Rufus is half Westie, it’s important to look after his skin. Westies are notorious for skin problems and touch wood, Rufus hasn’t shown any signs yet of bad skin yet. Never the less, it’s still important to look after his skin. Fish is wonderful for looking after a dogs skin with it’s natural oils and his second favourite from his goodie box does just that. Squid Bites are full of Omega 3 and although they are a bit stinky to me, Rufus loves them. Since feeding these as a fine dining treat, I’ve found his coat has improved. It’s more oily and just looks healthier. With the other half of Rufus being a Tibetan terrier, some of his coat is coarse and it’s become much softer since he’s been eating the squid bites!
Our next favourite was the Freeze Dried Treats made from Norwegian Ocean White fish. These are freeze dried rather than cooked which means it’s kept all the fish goodness is still in there. I wish I discovered these around a year ago as they are the perfect training treat. When Rufus was at puppy class, I needed to ensure I had a high quality treat to keep his attention such as liver or cheese. Perfect for keeping his attention but we all know that cheese is the king of making you gain weight. He really wasn’t interested in little dried treats that I picked off the supermarket shelf, but these, he loves them. It’s great knowing that I’m feeding him something that is good for him and gets us through dog training when we join again in the summer!
We love Fish4Dogs treats and I can’t recommend them enough for anyone who is wanting to give their dog healthy and affordable treats.
