I’m currently writing this sat in my Harry Potter trackie bottoms, Gryffindor T Shirt (Primark, why don’t you do a Ravenclaw one yet?) sipping gin from my Gin Explorer Box with Rufus by my feet. What a time to be a twenty five year old.
A lot has happened in the past month or so since I last wrote a little catch up post. My heads spinning with all the things I have to do blog wise but it seems more apt that I write down exactly what is going on in my head. Although my blog brings me all the opportunities in the world, it’s still my space on the Internet where I can write what I like. It’s not all magazine looking; sometimes it’s drinking gin in Harry Potter pjs.
First things first, I GOT ENGAGED. It’s made the past week a complete whirlwind of getting drunk and considering eloping to Gretna Green. Last week, The Geek and I were in Broadstairs. We had arrived at 10am after being up at 5:15am and went for a walk down the beach. I was under the illusion that I needed Instagram shots and he needed to stretch his legs after a 4 hour drive. We walked along a dog friendly beach where I considered stealing every dog possible. Whilst watching a dog bark at the sea getting mouthfuls of sea water, I declared it was my happy place and before I knew it, he popped out a ring and asked the question. Obviously, I said yes. Our friends threw us a mini celebration where I proceeded to be smashed by 2pm, insult a magician and have a hangover by 7pm. Perfect.
It was probably the most surreal day of my life. Not one bit of me was expecting it and I was completely blown away by The Geek’s scheming. He managed to get a bottle of champagne in the car with me believing that someone donated it to his work place (WTF?) under my nose. It was surreal having to text my nearest and dearest, have people congratulating me and think I’m a proper adult with a proper fiance and soon to be a wife. Don’t get me wrong; I’m beyond happy. But, it’s completely surreal thinking I was only going for Instagram shots to then come off the beach with a big fat diamond on my hand.
it’s also surreal thinking that someone has actually taken that plunge with you. Like, they’ve literally gone to a shop and bought you a fancy pants ring and spoken to your parents about it. That they actually want to marry the person with no matching socks, who’s dog has an Instagram and can quote all the Harry Potter films.
Now it’s slowly sinking in, I’ve started the hunt for venues. I knew weddings were pricey but some venues are ridiculous. We’ve got a few appointments to see what we like and dislike and we will take it from there. We’ve made a rough wedding guest list and the amount of people we have in each family is ridiculous. But, it’s all super exciting cracking on with this adventure. I will be planning to do more wedding posts as we get nearer and have something more to say. Hence the new series, Blogger Weds The Geek which was wonderfully thought of by Paris from Life in Florals. Until then, it’s all about celebrating!
