Rufus has been part of the Blogger & The Geek household for just over 2 years now and we’ve tried and tested a lot of products in that time. We’ve had some down right rubbish ones and we’ve tried some great, luxurious brands through our little dog blog.
But, what do we really stick too? I thought I’d compile the list of the products I keep on buying and ones I’m happy we’ve invested in. As much as I love to treat Rufus, it’s always a conscious thought that really all he requires to be happy is his favourite food, adventures and a cuddle on the sofa. Not being a fool for consumerism, I try and focus on the adventures we go on as much as we possibly can.
Rufus has been on Guru Pet Food since the summer and since trying it; we’ve never looked back. Guru is a cold pressed dog food and, unlike other dry dog food, it keeps all of it’s nutritional value. We did a post last year when we first tried it and our feelings towards it haven’t changed. Rufus loves Guru; he’s become a little diva at dinner time that as soon as we put our knife and fork down he’s waiting by his bag of Surf and Turf! For me, I feel happy knowing he’s on the best, it’s affordable and the team at Guru are always there on hand if I need any help, need to do any emergency ordering and are just great to work with.
We are new to the Chuck It range as we picked up our first Chuck It balls and thrower at Crufts this year. Rufus loves balls and is very much a Ball is life kinda dog. Ever since breaking my arm, I have had to use a ball thrower otherwise I’d be playing fetch every day for around 6 hours trying to tire Rufus out; Chuck It Ball throwers come in a number of different sizes. We have one of the small ones that is great to walk up to the field with and easy to carry around on our walks. We usually use one of the squeaker balls; we’ve used it every single day since March and the squeak and ball are still going! Rufus adores it; there’s been times where he’s lost it in a stream and we’ve spent 20 minutes trying to get it out because someone won’t leave his Chuck It Ball!
I’m a bit of a sucker for making Rufus look his best. Last year, I invested in Rufus’ first leather collar from the wonderful Duke Loves Fergie and it’s never left his neck since. The leather is sourced from Italy and is extremely comfortable and sturdy. I walk Rufus on the collar and we’ve had no issues with it whatsoever; it’s kept it’s shape and survived all the mud and water we’ve thrown at it. As well as being hard wearing Duke Loves Fergie make each order feel luxurious with each collar coming with a tag and dust bag. We’ve already got our eyes on the gorgeous Dove Grey and Blue Corde Collar as our next purchase.
We love Tuff Mutts in our household; both from a pooch and human perspective! We picked up a Doggy Duvet and Square Memory Foam bed earlier in the year and it’s been the best investment. Rufus happily sleeps in his crate on a night and since he’s been using the bed he sometimes goes off to bed early on his own. Tuff Mutts beds are memory foam, have a huge range of beds for every corner of the house and in my opinion, it was worth every single penny. We also splurged on Doggy Duvet, which is as much mine as Rufus’. We spend most evenings curled in the sofa in this huge blanket. Perfect!
Being the Queen of having a crazy, busy life I used to be terrible at remembering to worm and flea Rufus. We were lucky to try out Protect My Pet last year and ever since, we’ve been receiving their subscription boxes. Protect My Pet is a monthly service that sends your dogs flea and worming treatment straight through your letterbox for as little as £10 per month, and it comes with a few added goodies like Pooch & Mutt treats and Beco Poo Bags. It’s a perfect choice for the busy, forgetful dog owner like me.
These are the items I would always sing the praises of and I wouldn’t imagine having another dog without using them. If you have any recommendations, then hook a girl up!
