Happy Friday gang!
I cannot ell you how happy I am that it’s Friday. There has been a few days this week where if I rolled my eyes anymore, they would have rolled out of my head. But, it’s FriYAY – I’ve got a weekend of eating brunch with one of my gal pals, going to see the Avengers and hopefully, catch up on some z’s.
I need to catch up on some z’s because this week I became an unwilling morning person and it’s working out for me.
I’ve always hated the phrase, I’m a morning person purely because I was never one. No matter how hard I tried, I would always be that girl who would get up 20 minutes before I needed to leave the house, not be alive at work until I would have knocked back my brew and finally eat my breakfast about 10am if my work schedule allowed it. I was horrendous. At one point, it got to me doing my mascara and eyeliner in works’s car park all to try and get an extra few minutes in the land of nod.
This week it all changed; my husband got a new job which means I have to get up an hour earlier to take him to the train station. When he told me he’d be swapping his hours, we both did a little internal cry. We’re as bad as each other when it comes to the morning.
But it hasn’t actually been that bad.
Monday morning, I was at my desk for 7:30am armed with a Beanies coffee. FYI, I’m a total Beanies coffee convert after this week and trying out their variety packs. Creamy Caramel you are the one. I didn’t flag the whole day, I managed to have 30 minutes by myself in the office catching up on e-mails, and I just felt a little bit better. I even slept better that night.
Tuesday and Wednesday; I felt the same. Both those days I even managed to chuck dinner together in the slow cooker, which meant I had more of the evening to myself. I even managed to sort out a face of make up and just take a little bit more time and effort with myself.
Thursday, Rufus was finally getting used to the earlier mornings and we went for our morning walk for the first time in a while.
In short, that extra 45 minutes in the morning allowed me to do all the things that give me an instant win. The coffee, knowing I’ve got a decent, wholesome meal when I get back from work, getting some fresh air and feeling good about myself.
So, we’ll keep going with the reluctant morning person regime and let’s see if it will eventually make me a full morning person.
