I’m slowly trying to immerse myself back into the blogging world. It’s a heck of a lot easier now that I’m not spending every evening stripping our bedroom of woodchip wallpaper and decorating it to the way we want. It’s been a tiring few weeks but we are slowly getting there with making our house exactly how we want it.
But, on a happier note, we are officially in autumn. My favourite season! I’m very excited to be back into chunky knits, heeled boots and drinking coffee whilst walking the pooch in a thick scarf. We had our chimney swept a few days ago so now we can have our fire on in the living room, which has been lovely over the past few days when the temperature dropped.
So, what’s made me happy this week?
We tried out the Sunday Best at Pieminister last week, it was long awaited and the menu sounded my idea of heaven. It was a Pieminister pie of choice, served on a bed of mash with a yorkshire pudding, carrot and swede mash with a pig in blanket and some crackling all for less than £10.00. I went for my favourite pie, the Moo and Blue. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite reach Pieminister’s usual standard. It lacked in the carrot and swede mash, we were left waiting a while for our food and was quite dry. But, I know Pieminister usually do excellent food – so I will be back to give it another go.
MAKING OUR BEDROOM MORE ‘US’
We’ve spent the past few weeks slowly decorating our bedroom. All the paints is up on the walls and it’s my dark blue palace of joy. I’ve finally got myself a Harry Potter bedroom at nearly 28, although my husband never even noticed, until I pointed it out this week. I’m trying to find some perfect prints, some bedside lamps and tables to make it all tie in together. I know it’ll look ace when it’s done.
Technically, this was a few weeks ago and didn’t happen last week, but, I cannot mention them! My lovely father-in-law fitted us a wonderful floor in our living room and landing. Our living room floor looks and feels like a wooden floor but it’s actually plastic. It’s great for maintenance, meaning it’s not getting scuffed every 2 minutes by four paws and we can clean it without fear of ruining the wood. We love it, and it’s given our house such a new and fresh feel!
With it getting colder, it means a lot more stews, soups and all of the batch cooking is happening in our household. I always struggle to cook in the summer weather, I especially struggled in the summer we had. With moving house, I’ve dug out all my old cookbooks and re-reading recipes I haven’t tried in a long time, or ever.
PARKS AND RECREATION
Having a week off from decorating and house maintenance has meant actually sitting down on the sofa and binge watching Netflix with tea and puppy cuddles. After many recommendations, I’m watching Parks and Rec and I love it. It’s definetely light-hearted TV I needed to waste away the evenings.
